Your numbers are right Padraig, working in the banking world myself there has been cuts in staffing numbers of the 'four pillars'. The advent of back office admin in India has increased for all 'four'. Look I feel anyone coming to Australia to settle still has wonderful opportunities. Sure there is caution as we enter 09, however in the long term our reserves,optimism and will to succeed will overcome.More importantly we embrace new settlers, bring 'em on. |

Great article, Padraig. I hadn't realized Australia had thus far weathered the downturn so well. I did know things are tough in Ireland, though, and that's a shame. They were quite the Cinderella story for a while. |
