It is really nice that Robert is doing a little solo show while in Bavaria. Ok, so it will be in Haindling and not Regensburg...
Erhard, it is a benefit concert for which charitable purpose?

Wow, Erhard, what a great set. A new song. Karin playing. "When People are Dead" and "Part Company." Robert really gave you something.

Hi Randy,

yes, it was a great set to a full house. a lot of people who obviously had never heard any of the songs before but hanging on Robert's lips to take in all the words.
Very tender and nice singing from the crowd on "surfing mags".

gosh, yes! I'm still jubilant of having heard "Spirit of a Vampyre" for the first time live, as well as the new "a place to hide away" (I guess he did play it at some shows this last tour, right?). And then "Jack Kerouac" followed by "Bow Down", with that violin staccato introducing "Kerouac"... just amazing.
And the premiere of a new song! "Love is where it is". Can it get any better? It could, with the encores, beginning with "Part Company", then one of my favorite songs of all times, the utterly romantic "I've been looking for somebody" (I always become emotional at the lines "I used to think there was no woman in this world for me. But now I’ve changed, I’ve changed my mind...
the party is over, that's when she came"), a beautiful "Head full of steam" and the moving "Quiet Heart". Then Robert came back again for one more song, "He lives my life".
I sat in second row so I didn't dare to write a setlist, but Erhard has the songs covered above, thanks Erhard. Will post a link to some pics soon.
I also liked the fact that some people in the audience, locals, hadn't heard a Forster song before (I think they took to them nevertheless), mingling with some Gobs fans who came from all over Bavaria, the usual suspects you could say. It just made for a good mix.

What a sweet couple! Look like they're on their way to church.... lovely smile of Karin's as her husband bows, as if to say: "Ah, you were always a sucker for applause..."

today I found the whole concert but one new song on dime directly from the soundboard.

http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-detai ls.php?id=237090

Here sonething that is written there:

-------------

Robert Forster Live at Alte Hauptschule
Haindling, Germany, Nov 28, 2008
Soundboard Recording - Artwork included

Soundboard - Sony Minidisc - Magix Music Cleanig Lab - wav - flac

As many of you know Robert Forster spent a couple of years in Bavaria (drinking beer and smile from ear to ear), in the town of Regensburg. After having left the Go-Betweens in 1990 he moved to Alteglofsheim, a small village about 30 km away from Regensburg, living in a "German Farmhouse" with members of the local Band "Baby you know" (A very much underrated band, in my opionion. The Band doesn't exist anymore, if you're lucky you may get one of their CDs on ebay or elsewhere. Look out for "Clear Water".). One of the members of that band was Karin Bäumler, violinist, who became Robert's wife.
So: After Robert's world tour 2008 he, Karin and their kids stayed here in Bavaria for a couple of weeks. They lived in a house in the village of "Haindling", close to Geiselhöring, which is about 35 km away from Regensburg. (It is the same village after which the German Band "Haindling" got their name from, by the way). On November 28, Robert (and Karin on a couple of songs) did a benefit concert in this very village in the "Alte Hauptschule", which means "Old schoolhouse" (roughly translated). This, of course, led to the title "German Schoolhouse". (Karin told me that Robert liked the title, so don't say anything against it...). Only fifty or so people found access to this rather small venue, which made it a very special show.
After the show I had the opportunity to talk to Robert and Karin for the first time: Very, very friendly people, and both crazy about music. (People who LOVE music can't have a bad characater anyway, can they?). Robert told me that he already has written a couple of songs since "The Evangelist" came out, but has no plans to record them in the near future. One these new songs, "Love is where it is", was performed during the concert. (Robert asked me not to upload this song, which is quite understandable.)
Thank you Robert for allowing me to record the show, thanks to Karin for the phone calls, and of course thanks to Edi and Manfred at the soundboard for their technical support.

"Robert Forster in Haindling" was a benefit-Concert for an organisation that supports children who develop cancer. If you want to get information or even give a donation, here is its domain: www.bettina-braeu-stiftung.de

Enjoy the music. Trade this show freely. Anybody who tries to make money out of this show and who's name is not Robert Forster may have to listen to Garth Brooks for the rest of his life!

---------------
Oh, and here's the setlist, forgot that one in the info-file:

1.A Place to Hideaway
2 River People
3 If it rains
4 Pandanus
5 Spirit of a Vampyre
6 Darlinghurst Nights
7 When People are dead
8 Surfing Magazines
9 The Houese that Jack Kerouac built
10 Bow Down
11 Born to a family
12 German Farmhouse
13 Part Company
14 I've been looking for Somebody
15 Headfull of Steam
16 Quiet Heart
17 He Lives my live

"Love is where it is", a new song, was omitted due to Robert's wish.

-----------------
There is nothing more to be said but thank you Robert, thanx to the uploader!
Andreas.
