I know we've done this before, but in an effort to balance the hostile (but kinda fun) environment of the "bands I don't get..." thread, here's the inverse. Heaven 17 - After having been into this band for over 2 decades, I have absolutely failed to get anyone else to share my enthusiasm for them. Beach Boys - well, at least on this here msg. board, at any rate. Pet Sounds is one of my favorite records. The lush, beautifully crafted Smile-era tracks are great as well, not to mention quite a few random late 60s-early 70s tracks. High Llamas - Granted, their career has been indisputably hit and miss, but I do still quite like some of their albums, particularly Hawaii and Gideon Gaye. But far too often have I found myself in situations where I'm forced to defend them! Style Council - I've suffered quite a lot of ridicule over the years for this one! Ludus - I do not know one single person, other than myself, who likes this band. |

Thompson Twins - still love some of their stuff The Mighty lemon Drops - long forgotten and airbrushed from history The Chesterfields - obscure 1980s jangly guita pop; somebody else has to like them... As for Ludus, never even heard of 'em. |

I reckon H17 made some great singles Jeff, but the albums that I heard werent too hot Pet Sounds is a masterpiece Style Council - no comment! I had a Mighty Lemondrops album but its long gone from the memory what they sounded like - New Orderish?? As for me, Burial Clock DVA - back in the 80s nobody i knew had even heard of them , let alone had an opinion on them. Eyeless in Gaza |

I *love* Eyeless in Gaza, Kev, but other EIG fans seem definitely few and far between. And like I mentioned in another thread, I need to reinvestigate Clock DVA. A friend of mine quite likes Burial, fwiw. |

Jeff, I adore the Beach Boys and love/like much by High Llamas and Style Council. Heaven 17 are OK. Never heard of Ludus. |

I like some of Heaven 17's output, The Luxury Gap was one of my 1st albums, still got it. Babybird/Stephen Jones/Death Of The Neighbourhood, have given me the most entertainment over the last 15 years or so. |

I saw Babybird live in London in about 97. He was fantastic. It was an NME gig and the other bands were Tindersticks, Sparklehorse and High Llamas. Absolute bargain of a night. |

It was Jerry. I flew to London from Dublin for those NME concerts on three or four seperate years, but that one was the standout by far. Another memorable night though was when I got very pissed on Carling (at 1 pound a can!) and started roaring abuse at the utterly useless Campag Velocet! ("Go home, you're terrible" was what I was shouting.) |
