This board is wonderfully valuable for all manner of shooting the breeze, but I know when people start raising the "...you know, I happen to have some music I'VE written and performed myself..." people start tugging their collars and quickly changing browser windows.

However, I thought why not give it a shot.

I just recently put up a MySpace with four songs I did (my very self!! gold star me!!) two years ago. The intent was to potentially put more stuff there in the future; I'm moving soon and I've got to get a life started, and though I'm only 22 time is growing precious if I want a career in the arts.

All I ask is that you folks tell me what you think if you care to take a peek. I'm sure plenty will hate it, and that's not only valid, it's important for me to know that my music needs a little less hateability to be successful.

However, bear in mind I WAS an ambitious 20-year-old (which justifies potential hatred) and I DID write and perform it all by myself (which bolsters potential appreciation). I'm sure if Johnny Marr had been an available collaborator, he... wouldn't've worked with me. But he probably never visits Texas.

I go by "Ryan Rose" here -

Just think about checking it out.

'bye,
Victor

Hey, Victor, no need to hedge - this board is stuffed with musicians: Spence, Jeff, Randy and others. I love hearing music by folks I only "know" through posts here. In a way, sharing music is almost more personal than 100 board posts. Looking forward to giving this a listen after work.

I tried to give this a listen but apparently MySpace has changed the player and now I have to install something. I've run into this a few times over the past few months. I guess my 3 year old Mac is now hopelessly obsolete. (And I'm being stubborn about downloading another media player). Otherwise I might have something to say, Victor. Sorry.

You guys just need a Flash update, guys. Very simple fix. At least that's all I've been instructed to do on my Mac at work. Of course I don't have admin access to actually download the freakin' update, but I finally had a chance to listen at home on my PC (which already had the Flash update).

Victor - very, very pop! May not be quite my thing, but it does seem well executed. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for at least saying something! "Very, very pop" is a total compliment in my eyes. Would've expected a bit more of a positive response to such a thing from fans of McLennan but I've noticed that people are a fan of the... what, the more ruminative/experimental. I dunno what to call it. Serious and arty sound like slurs. Well, thanks again!

Well, your stuff *is* very poppy, Victor. It's probably a bit on the straightforward side for me, but my tastes are a bit idiosyncratic, I suppose. For what it's worth, I'm not a huge fan of McLennan's solo work, but I think there are quite a number of people on this board who are.
