I saw Robert's wonderful performance at the Queensland Art Gallery last Friday night and then went away to the beach, so apologies for the very late post. Robert played from a small stage in the centre of the water mall, the most beautiful space in the Gallery. For the first thirty minutes it was just Robert and his acoustic guitar, opening with That Way, the first of two McLennan songs he performed that evening (Just A King In Mirrors, the second was introduced as a great B Side. He also performed Part Company completing the single). Robert then introduced Karin Baumler on violin and Adele Pickvance on double bass, completing an acoustic trio that played the second half of the show. They start with a thrilling version of The House That Jack Kerouac Built, later playing two new songs that Robert says will be recorded in Stockholm late next year. Who knows, but what clear is that Robert is still writing great songs and delivering them with passion. A good review of the concert was published here: http://www.messandnoise.com/events/20016 89 |

Thanks for the report and the link, David. As the Mess+Noise reviewer says, the recording of a new album "in November 2010, in Stockholm" sounds (as I read it, anyway) much like Forster humour, and thus should be taken with a pinch of salt. |

He's recording it with the people who created Britney Spears. |

Is Britney man-made. That could explain the baldness, upstairs & downstairs. It's good that he's got some new material & doing some of Grant's GB songs. |

Stockholm, November 2010. I'll invite Robert and the band to dinner, for sure. |

A very enjoyable little concert, that. GUT ROCK ROCK AND ROLL! Strangely, my download omitted "That Way", or it has disappeared somewhere inside my computer. Could someone please e-mail me an mp3 of that particular song, to svein.inge.saether@gmail.com? Thank you. |
