Padraig, I am surprised that the 1911 Irish Census has been released this early as I was under the impression that, by law, no access is allowed for 100 years. I know the 1911 Scotland Census will not be accessible until early next year. I started compiling a Family History shortly after my father died in 2007 and have been working on it ever since. I have been travelling to the Scotlands People Centre in Edinbugh ( General Register House ) about once a week since February, 2010. Researching has proved extremely enjoyable and like you I have learned a huge amount about my family that I previously did not know. Compiling a Family Tree can quickly become a very addictive pastime. | ||

Padraig, thanks for posting this. My dads family are from Castlebar in Co Mayo and I can see some Wynne's listed there. I will need to ask my dad if he recognises any of the christian names,perhaps his dad or grandfather, and take it from there. One of the families had a servant listed - jeez!! | ||

I knew you came from the landed gentry Kevin! Amongst my biggest discoveries so far is a Methodist branch on the family tree! Hugh, they must have different rules in Ireland, though the six counties which are still part of the UK are included too. Maybe it's one of those laws that are different in Scotland? |
