Thanks for the headstart TROU, I didn't know Midlake had a tour planned - Manchester Academy 2 for me, its the worst of the Academy venues, but beggars etc. I went to see Flaming Lips on Monday in Manchester (Academy 1) a typical FL show, with balloons, zorbs a lot of chat and a few songs. Tuesday was Charlotte Hatherley (who used to be in Ash) in Liverpool, a poor show for me, with sound problems don't think she was too happy with the venue (the Barfly by the way). Next up in a week or so is Answering Machine, with Pains Of Being Pure Of Heart and The Engineers up in December. Cheers Jon |

Cosmo I saw the Fall at koko on Tuesday and thought they were great - lots of feedback and reverb which is unusual for them and very loud. Be interested to hear how Soton is. Jon - how were Bad Lieutenant? |

Bad Lieutenant were really good, they played most of the Brighton set, but with a couple of additions for the 'hometown' audience - an extra NO and an extra JD song. The album has really grown on me, maybe due to me being lazy and having it in the car for ages, but there you go. Cheers Jon |

Had a ticket for The Drones but they cancelled due to one of the members being struck with pneumonia. Yo La Tengo started teir tour in Dublin and were incredible and incredible value too.. 2 hours for 20 euro, some value creeping in again. Highlights: Here to Fall from the new album and the old reliable Blue Line Swinger from Electro-Pura, my favourite album of theirs. Finished with a few lovely Fakebook covers including the beautiful Yellow sarong. Next gig is this Saturday's Atlas Sound show at Whelans, colds forbidding! |

Going to see Aboriginal country singer Troy Cassar-Daley tonight. Someone else can't make it so the ticket has become mine. I'm not a huge fan, but anything I've heard by him has been pretty good. I'm told he's great live. It's a long bloody drive to get there though, right from one side of the city to the exact opposite - north east, where I am, to south west. |
