Bill Drummond *Said* - now that was quite the Freudian slip!

Fried might be my favorite Julian Cope album.

Tough to argue against Fried as being the best Julian Cope.

Wild Beasts - All the King's Men; The Devil's Crayon

So, when I hung out with Spence a couple weeks ago, he was raving about Wild Beasts at various points throughout the day. He was fairly adamant that I'd like 'em. So, I checked out some of their stuff on youtube, and I have to say, at least two of the songs I heard (listed above) are really, really good!

But yeah, when is the last time you saw *me* list two relatively contemporary songs as the song of the day? Right. This band really seems to have something.

I concure with you gentlemen of excellent taste....Fried is for me EASILY the best Cope. Didn't Drummond do a song called "Julian Cope is dead" though? I've never heard it.
Whilst on Drummond, has anyone heard the song that "Evil" Graham Lee did with the KLF? That sort of left out at me whilst I was finishing that Triffids book (finally!).
Still plowing through Embryonic.
Was nearly going to buy Flowers/Icehouse so "We can get together" has been buzzing through my head.

I should be listening to Nick Drake's album Five Leaves left after filling to the brim 35 bags of leaves the past 10 days or so! On a positive note, the Fall season has been very temperate here in Michigan so my leaf raking has been done in pleasant temperature for a change.

Pretty ace Jeff ! Shame that it cuts off just before the 7 minute mark, as it sounds as if they could have kept it going for a while. The bass player is wild.

We have friends that go to that jazz festival every summer in Vienne, south of Lyon. They have friends with a house (+ swimming pool) that overlooks the Roman amphitheater where the musicians play. They sit and listen (or swim and listen?) for free...

It's a hard life for some.

I played that song just the other day Andrew. It is such a fantastic song. I used to play it to people 18 years ago and tell them it was an R.E.M. outtake. They almost always believed me.

Yep, it is a great song (with Phranc on backing vocals?). And the album (If'n) also has the song 'For the Singer of REM'...

I have absolutely no recollection of why I bought the record all those years ago; I knew nothing of the history of the Minutemen for example. But it was a pleasant surprise cranking the old phonograph up the other evening and blowing the tumbleweed off the needle.
