Jon Lord, the keyboard player with the sixties/seventies rock band Deep Purple has died aged 71.

Maybe I'll give the self titled third album a spin tonight.

His daughter was going out with Loz Colbert around 1993 so he ended up doing a lot of the keyboard parts on Carnival of Light. Yet another excuse to give it a spin.

I was humming "Child In Time" in the car earlier and haven't played the song in years Michael, his greatest contribution to a Deep Purple song?
I got Deepest Purple on Vinyl for my birthday when I was 11 and proceeded to gather up "In Rock" "Live In London" and my favourite "Fireball" over the next year, loved Lord's chunky Hammond organ sound.

nevertheless, deep purple were one of the groups i liked in my first days of listening to rock music.
headbanging to the songs on made in japan (like everybody else). still really love their 'burn' album, which i bought at the time of the release. oh, how i was excited.

while writing this 'hush' came to my mind. think i have to listen to it right now.

I've always hated Deep Purple..Even now, after all this time, I couldn't give them any credit.

Altough, peace to Jon Lord.

I was only a fan of their first three albums, the MK1 period, when Rod Evans was the lead vocalist.

Wow, that's a total steal Andreas. I've never heard that song before. I absolutely loved Deepest Purple when I was a kid. I really liked a lot of Made In Japan too, but that endless drum solo track was truly awful.

I'm with Trou. "Hush" is probably the only thing I could ever listen to.
