I was listening earlier to a mix tape I made in 1997 of my favourite songs of that year. When Cornershop's Brimful Of Asha came on my daughter said it sounded like Streets Of Your Town. And she's right! I had never noticed this before, despite Brimful... being a song I love and have regularly played over the years. But how could I not have noticed the similarity in 15 years of hearing it?! Brimful... is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM7H0ooV_ o8 |

Padraig, I know and like this song too. I've listened to it and must say that I don't see the connection. They are a bit similar, but I couldn't find a direct connection, even as I was singing "Streets" over the song! Are there certain parts that you think sound particularly similar? |

The intro Austin! And everywhere that riff is repeated through the song! |

There is a vague similarity I guess. But not in the video you post Padraig. That is the original slowed down version, the riff is speeded up in the Norman Cook remix version of BOA and it could be said there are strains of SOYT. Is that the one you and your daughter listed to per chance? |

Spare a thought for me when I had a friend of mine tried telling me that The Go-Bees ripped off Milky's "The Way you are" http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/55 748/Milky-Just%20the%20Way%20You%20Are_T he%20Go-Betweens-Streets%20of%20Your%20T own/ |

No, I meant that version Kevin. I never much liked the remix (though I suspect this was because I was miffed the hoi polloi was getting into a band I'd long been into!). |
