Hard to believe it's been eight years.
I dug out all the old vinyl over the weekend, drew the blinds and played it loud. I'll be taking the long route home from work, with Fireboy, Liberty Belle and 16 Lovers Lane for company.

Remembering seven years ago, sitting in Ric's bar in Brisbane, raising a glass to Grant's memory on his first anniversary. I'd hope to do that again. I haven't been back to Brisbane since Robert's shows that July. Still haven't walked on Go Between Bridge. Maybe some time soon, I'll get back there, and get another chance to go for a walk by those lights down on Shield Street...

Can't think of a nicer tribute to Grant than to see your name pop up around these parts, Catherine. Hope you're great.

Hi Catherine, great to hear from you. Still sad to think of the loss, still excited by the music.

I agree with all of the sentiments expressed here. It's great to see entries from Catherine and David, and Rob's been more scarce in recent times as well. We have our lives to attend to and I know some of us have had some challenges to confront.

I would love to wander around the hills of Brisbane again. I found it a beautiful and charismatic city even in the grip of a very long drought. There are still obvious places that I didn't visit in 2007, such as Spring Hill and UQ.

When I listen to their music I am continually thinking about the differences between Grant and Robert and their respective contributions to the Go-Betweens and how they challenged and encouraged (and yes, edited) each other. Of course I can't help thinking about their differing levels of internal discomfort and how that probably led to their different fates.

Thanks Rob, David, Randy. Yeah, I'm good now. Last year not so much, hence the self imposed exile. I missed this place. Will try to make the effort and show up every so often.

I'm with you on that wish to return to Brisbane, Randy. I've even taken to Google Street View to try get a little fix, but it's like decaf - looks like the real thing, but just not cutting it!

Catherine, speaking of Street View, did you watch the videos of the flooding when that was happening? Hellacious. Feast or famine.

Frightening scenes indeed. I recognised a street or two I'd visited, but only by the address. Certainly not by the images!
