Will Oceans Apart be remastered? That alone would make it buying. |

I think this will only cover the earlier years as it says Volume 1 in the picture. But I really don't know anything about what it will or won't contain. |

There was a discussion on here a few years ago about what such a set might contain http://go-betweens.org.uk/chatroom/messa ges/1/16461.html?1306269708 |

I'm betting the house its just a repackaging of the currently available material. Is there any additional information? |

Paul, I've asked EMI Australia for more information, but no joy so far. |

Thanks Pádraig. Of a matter of interest, where did the photo come from? As this is an 'semi-official' message board, you'd think they would cross post come information here. I'd even be happy with 'heres a top secret project that we are working on, can't release details yet but we will keep you posted'. |

OK, so it's not coming out on EMI. From what I can gather, it seems it might be coming out on Edwyn Collins' boutique label AED. It will be coming out in time for Christmas, so I would imagine mid-November (so now you all know what to ask Santa for). I don't yet know if it contains unreleased material. Seeing as AED specialises in vinyl, there is a possibility that it will just be the first six albums re-released on vinyl. But hopefully that is not the case. |

It's CDs, and it contains unreleased material, including a live show recorded by ABC radio in 1982 in a bar not far from where I now live. |

Dusty, I'll keep digging and post more when I know more. There are many unreleased live in the studio radio sessions from the '80s and also unreleased demos from that period, so hopefully some of them will be included. |

Thanks Padraig I must admit I never thought there would be any sort of box set, and now it's clear it's not simply the albums reissued it all sounds very exciting. I would love to see some of the Botany demo material released as there are a number of very good unreleased tracks in there. Also, as C Gull mentioned, it would be great if the whole of Ocean's Apart was released in a sonically improved version (wishful thinking in a box set I suppose). The 3 O.A. tracks that appeared on the recent 'Quiet Heart' sounded much better after being remastered for that comp. As you say Padraig, there are still plenty of unreleased studio tracks floating around as well... |

I asked someone else whom I suspected might know a bit about this earlier today and was told the box set has been in preparation for about 18 months and it may also contain vinyl, or perhaps there is a separate vinyl re-release of the first six records. |

At the facebook group The Go-Betweens Appreciation Society page it is said that Domino will be the record company. They have done some very fine work on the Triffids and Orange Juice back catalogues. This (now empty) page might add to that rumour: http://www.dominorecordco.com/artists/th e-go-betweens/ |

Regardless of how this box set pans out, I think we as fans have been well represented with reissues and compilations. After the 2002-04 reissues I thought we were done with Go-Betweens Mk1, so any new material will be surprising. As for Mk2 releases, I cant wait. |
