Thank-you for the link Eugene. I really enjoyed listening to this session, and please note there is a link to this version of the session on Youtube. It has just been posted and sounds like a direct copy from the bbc programme above which is better quality than the previous post from approx a year ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAwzqGb5 4Us&nohtml5=False The version of 'Just a King in Mirrors' is the familiar session version found on both 1978-90 comp and the Before Hollywood 2-cd set. I really like the version of 'The old way out' which just seems to have more oomph than the LP version. It is closer in spirit to the demo version from the box set which remains the definitive version for me. Most interesting though are the versions of the smoothly produced Bachelor Kisses and pastoral Part Company. I really like both the LP versions, but these radio sessions are an interesting contrast. Much knottier and more angular in their arrangement with Morrison's drumming prominent, particularly in B.K. - it's odd to think this was reinvented as a sweetly produced single within the year. | ||

Nice to hear these - as noted by Dusty its nice to hear the Angular stylings of these versions. In general apart from Before Hollywood and some of Spring Hill Fair i don't think the albums have aged particularly well - they are very much "of their time" production wise. These are harsher and all the better for it. |
