Pádraig, thanks for that - it looks great. Many, many, many years ago I went to the opening of the Sydney Film Festival at the State Theatre (1988). Sadly I won't be there this year but this looks like a must-see film. I'd still marry Amanda Brown on the spot, though I'm not sure my wife would let me!!

Yes Yes Yes ! That trailer looks great and I hope that the film reflects the originality of the band.

Simon, I'm before you in the queue. Pistols at dawn ?

Andrew, I have pacifist tendencies. How about scissors, paper, stone?! Or Texas hold'em poker? Seriously, you have to love the Go-Betweens!

And I want to marry Robert, but same-sex marriage is the love that dare not speak its name in this damn country. And Robert's already married. And neither of us are gay. But otherwise, yes, definitely.

Glad I've raised the tone of conversation here! Pádraig, those may be slight impediments to the Forster/Collins nuptials, but surely Aussies are known for their positive attitude to life: "She'll be right, mate!"

I too could envision a settled homelife with Robert, though I think the relationship would inevitably founder through my attempts to foist my own lyrics on to his tunes. "Here's a good one...go on, just try it..." "I'm going out for a coffee. I may be some time." Door slams. Sigh.

I just laughed out loud at that scenario, Stuart.

This does look very exciting. Padraig you might remember that either Robert or Grant once described their friendship as "platonic homosexuality" so your most probable obstacle is Robert's troth to the memory. "Mostly, I miss my friend."

After seeing a RF performance in Glasgow, a friend of mine said "that is the campest hetrosexual I've ever seen"

Did anyone get in touch with the film-makers ? I sent a message with some info, but never even got a reply so didn't take it any further...

I sent an email with some lo-res pics. They got back to me and said they'd be interested in seeing more. Sadly we're having building work done here so I've no idea where the original pics/negs are.

I've linked to these before, but I love the B&W pics from Warwick Uni in the 1980s, and I think they're worth a look. I was well into my photography in the 80s. Looks like you'll have to paste the link rather than click on it.

I particularly love the whole-band overhead shot Simon. At that point they were visually a wonderfully well-balanced band. You had the two fancy Roberts, the ordinary-Joe Grant, the Amazon keeping complicated time and the bird playing orchestral instruments.

"The bird playing orchestral instruments"!? Are you allowed to say that in these enlightened times...! And I like the somewhat camp-looking blond-haired Robert Forster, and if I remember rightly he's wearing a particularly fine pair of red trousers.
