I just listened to it, it's great. I was living in Dublin at the time. I'd heard of the Go-Betweens, but didn't know anything about them. What a thing it would have been to see that lunchtime gig in Trinity.

I was wondering if he'd mention Lindy and Amanda and then he said such lovely things about them.

Thanks for the link, Peter.

Interesting too that Fanning mispronounces Brisbane in the same manner as Randy does on one of his songs.

And it was nice, and somewhat haunting to hear Gerry Ryan's voice at the end.

That's a really fantastic interview. I used to have a tape of it and then ... looking forward to listening again to it. Thanks.

Dave also interviewed Grant on his show in 1989 when they were on The Green Tour, hoping that The Fanning Sessions get their hands on that some day.
Loved his choice of 2HB by Roxy and how he reacted to the Ned Beatty analogy was pretty funny too. Very open, confident and charming. Wonder was "the tearooms" Conways he referred to being in with George Byrne the lovely bar that used to be across from The Rotunda?
I remember reading somewhere about Grant, George & Eamonn Carr from Horslips partying in Khaftans in a flat somewhere after that Trinity show.

How lovely the way he pronounces guitars... giving the word such a dreamily expansive sound!

Peter, I'd bet my bottom dollar it's that bar.

Oh, what a fantastic find - thanks so much for posting! I remember hearing this interview at the time - I had heard Dave Fanning play The Wrong Road weeks before, fell in love with it, but didn't know who the band was. Heard this interview and it all fell into place and I went out and bought Liberty Belle at the Golden Discs on North Earl Street. The George Byrne reference made me smile too. Miss them both.
