http://www.go-betweens.org.uk/gigography .htm Hi - first time poster.I am English and visited Australia in 1988-89 when we were all younger. Saw the Go Betweens on May 28th, 1988 somewhere in the Western Suburbs of Sydney - an old theatre. After the gig many including the band went to the Petersham Hotel. I remember the name of the Petersham hotel as I am from an area in London that is very near Petersham, Surrey. Loved the Go Betweens, and watched the documentary Right Here, Right Now yesterday. Very poignant and stirred some memories for me. Anybody want to confirm my missing gig? Lots of songs from 16 Lovers Lane - which is one of my cherished albums. All the best. |

Michael, I posted the following in 2009. 'Also missing is a gig at the Enmore Theatre, Sydney in 1988. Billed as "The Night of Miracles" (I think) it featured The Died Pretty, a hypnotist, a magician who usually played children's parties - that was surreal - and the Go-Betweens. I've got my diaries from 1988 and the flyer/ticket somewhere, so I'm not making it up. It was a great gig, and the hypnotist didn't manage to put me under, though it was quite relaxing...' Could that be the gig? I still haven't checked my diaries... |

Hi Simon - that's the one! I had forgotten the magician bits. But now you have reminded me, I recall it. Enmore - yes! You were there too?! Did you go to the Petersham afterwards? |

Bit of googling gave me this... https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/1227 53974/ Can we have the gig added to the gigography? |

I would just like to add - it never fails to amaze to me how the Go Betweens are connected one way or another to all that I love in music. For example - I remember Orange Juice on the Old Grey Whistle test doing 'Rip it up', and thought what a great song. Go Betweens I later found out were friends with them. |

Michael, Have you read Simon Goddard's book "Simply Thrilled — The Preposterous Story of Postcard Records" ? The couple of chapters about the Robert and Grant living in Glasgow with the Postcard crew are great. |
