i’m wondering if anyone knows If there is a relationship of some sort between My Rock ‘n’ Roll Friend and My Drug Buddy by the Lemonheads from 1991. The title, the subject matter, and the structure are similar, as well as strikingly in the 1996 version, the prominent wandering keyboards.
Note also that Evan Dando wrote some of that album in Sydney with Tom Morgan (not that particular song, though it does contain a Sydney reference). And Tom Morgan’s own 1991 song “grant McLennan” refers to “‘my rock n roll friend Evan”.
Was there some kind of mutual influence going on here? |
