Interesting. There’s not a huge amount of previously released material to choose from. I can think of six tracks from singles and a few collaborations. I’m sure a lot of fans would like to see the 10 Rules of Rock and Roll EP included. | ||

He did a few radio sessions as well. So I think there's a fair bank of stuff which could be added already - hopefully some surprises on the side. Really looking forward to these reissues. I think Danger and Warm Nights would benefit particularly well from a good remaster. Oh, and there's the box set for the end of the year as well! | ||

I wasn’t aware of Lonely Boy. I see that’s on the Australian Drop single but not on the UK version. There was something similar with Grant’s Lighting Fires where the Australian version has songs not available elsewhere. | ||

What's so exciting about these upcoming reissues is that they are being overseen by someone who clearly loves the music of the artist. Likewise the Go-betweens reissues are being carried out by Domino - a high quality label who put a lot of thought and time into the band's previous box set, and who no doubt will do again. It's fantastic that GB & solo reissues/remasters are coming out in this way. Hopfully, Grant's will be sensitively done as well one day. | ||

Robert performed a lovely song live with a Glasgow band whose name escapes me about 10 years ago - i'm pretty sure it was released in an inferior version. Title was something like "You'll never be rich". | ||

I bought a copy of the four-song CD with "Drop", "Falling Star", "Brookfield 1975" and "Lonely Boy" at one of the Four Ages shows. I would love a DVD release of those performances. If I ever knew there was an EP released in conjunction with the Rules of Rock 'n Roll book, I forgot about it. | ||

The 10 Rules EP is pretty good, Randy but vinyl only (apart from Walcott which I think you can still get digitally). The package was ridiculously expensive. £150 I think. I listened to The Land That Time Forgot recently for the first time in nearly 30 years, it’s not one of his best. I seem to recall that Beggars Banquet gave the Baby Stones 7” away free in record shops. They must have pressed quite a lot as it changes hands for very little. I wonder if this label is going to be vinyl only or if there will be digital too. CDs seem unlikely. | ||

Burgers - just to clarify: Extract from article on Needle Mythology https://www.longlivevinyl.net/needle-myt hology/ There won’t be more than 10 releases a year, each featuring full sleevenotes and an additional vinyl EP. CD pressings will include everything from the vinyl, in naturally smaller form. “I don’t think CDs are as much of a dying format as people say,” Paphides insists. “There’s still a market for a well-put-together CD.” From that, there would be vinyl and cd releases. Also, the two inaugural releases this month are both remastered vinyl and cd with bonus tracks (in the case of Stephen Duffy release - 2x cd). Yes, I waited in vain for Maid of the Loch when it was announced. I assumed it would leak out somewhere one day, but it never did. According to Grant & I, Robert cut twelve 4-track demos in early '99 in a Regensburg bedroom studio. Also, there were some demos which you could download on the Baby You Know website years & years ago. I think that's where I got 'What goes on' from (recorded in 1997), but there were also demos of '121' and some others there as well I think. In a nutshell, there should be quite a few tracks to choose from for the bonus vinyl/cd. He also did a few radio sessions during the 90's. I would really like to hear the '96 session version of 'When she sang about angels'. It was a live standout for me at the time. | ||

Info from Tapete: REMASTERED REISSUE OF THE ALBUM 'THE EVANGELIST' (ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2008) ON CD (DIGIPACK + BOOKLET) AND VINYL RELEASE DATE JUNE 28th 2019 Friendly guy from Tapete got back when I asked and said he felt they've done a good job with the sound. Happy to get it now. I guess the Needle Mythology remasters will follow (bought the NM Stephen Duffy cd release and think it was really well done i.e. sound, track selection, artwork etc). | ||

Just ordered The Evangelist LP from the Tapete website - so happy to have it on vinyl. After all, if I'm entirely honest with myself, this is my favourite album featuring Robert, solo or in a band... |
