What Go-betweens / Go-betweens related material would you like to see released for RSD?

I would like to hear the demos for Grant's final solo album, 'In your bright ray'. Robert Forster spoke about the demo of 'One plus one' being different from what appeared on the album. The strange thing about 'In your bright ray' is that Grant had no hand, act or part in the mixing of the album. Personally, I really don't like the way the album was mixed and would be interested in hearing the demos or orginal unmixed recording.

I'm also asking Santa for a three track RSD single featuring the following:

Robert Forster: Surrender (song appears on some live recording circa 1995)
Grant McLennan: Title unknown: (recording with Baby You Know member in mid nineties.
b/w
Go-betweens: Hurricane (live Spain 1989: surprised this one didn't make onto the Box set)

I'd love to hear the Robert Forster version of Future Pilot AKA's "Maid of the Loch". The original is an instrumental and RF wrote lyrics. Think it was called "You'll Never Be Rich" ?

At his gig in Glasgow in 2001 he said that he had been recording it, but it has never appeared.

Here's the orginal.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr5hSZmA 9mI

PS fsh, did you have a look at the RAM article that you had mentioned in another thread ? I put all my scanned stuff on OneDrive and it's in there

Need to copy and paste the link :-(

I remember reading about 'Maid of the Loch' at the time but had actually forgotten it. Susil does appear on the Finding You 7" on "The City of Lights (Vs. Future Pilot AKA)".
I did have a goo at the stuff you put up on One Drive, it's a real treasure trove of stuff. The Go betweens Information Service for instance seems to have been so inept that hardly anyone knew it existed.
I was in work today thinking, is there anything I need to print out. I could remember that there was but not what it was, so you've reminded me of that now. I can't read the stuff online very well and usually need a print out and a magnifine glass to read stuff. It's a great collection and thanks very much for making it all available. I think this website would be much improved by having a section dedicated to articles/press etc. I'm trying to track down other RAM's with Go betweens covers (there's four in all) but they're looking for silly money for them on ebay. One thing I have that is quite unusual and surprising imho is a 16 Lovers' Lane promotional silver spoon (I kid you not!).

Yes, I would love to hear Robert's Maid of The Loch. I remember reading that it was soon to be released, a long time ago ... It seems that also Karine Polwart wrote a lyric for the song. You could download her version from her website, although I cannot find the song anymore. It is great, I think. - There is a live version on youtube.

"The City of Lights" - the version on the Worlds Apart single is great. There is a shorter version with Grant/Robert on the Future Pilot AKA:s album Secrets from the Clockhouse, which also have another version of the same song with another title (Lights of the City?) that have the longer backing track, and maybe another vocalist. (I have to check this out, the album is here somewhere.)

'Maid of the loch' is going to see the light of day. It's being released on the new Port Surplur LP from Creeping Bent due 06 April 2022.

Now, how about a RSD release?

Any idea how to get hold of this? I can't find any reference to it, even on the Creeping Bent Bandcamp site or Facebook page.

Thanks Hugh.

It seems subscription-based. Guess it's a case of checking it from early April and subscribing if and when the track appears. Seems there also might be some interesting material on there (for me: James Kirk, Nectarine No 9 etc). Quite an unusual setup.

"Quite an unusual setup"

They advertised a download of a Nectarine No.9 for a fiver, but I couldn't understand how you could get it without subscribing. I asked the question but they replied with the same link and no more of an explanation. I gave up :-(

I think that the Port Sulphur abum will be released on vinyl:
https://shop.lastnightfromglasgow.com/pr oducts/port-sulpher-speed-of-life?_pos=7 &_sid=fdc3dc4ee&_ss=r

I have seen the tracklist somewhere, and I would have noticed Maid of the Loch. I do not think it is planned: the album seems to be instrumental (see the decripition in the link above).

About the Patreon: it is 5 pounds a month. And you can download the tracks. I subscribe.

Maybe Maid of the Loch will be a part of some Future Pilot AKA extra bonus special - sometime ...
