Last Saturday night Bavarian radio station Bayern2 braodcasted a Robert Forster lounge concert which is still available for streaming ... I don’t know how long, usually the Bayern2 Nachtmix radio broadcasts are available for one week only. Here you can re-listen Robert’s lounge concert: http://bit.ly/RobertForsterLoungeConcert Robert played seven own songs incl. a new one as well as three Go-Betweens songs. In addition, he performed three cover versions incl. David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and Sparifankal (a Bavarian/Munich band, which started playing shows in 1972; Sparifankal is a Bavarian expression and means devil). Robert was supported by his wife Karen Bäumler, Luke (band-member) and the Forster Family Singers SETLIST 1. Remain (RF - Inferno, 2019) 2. Let Me Imagine You (RF - Songs To Play, 2015) 3. Inferno (Brisbane In Summer) (RF - Inferno, 2019) 4. D Schui Brend (Sparifankal - Huraxdax Drudnhax, 1978) 5. The Length And Breadth Of A Life (new RF song) 6. Fortress (RF - Warm Nights, 1996) 7. Can You Hear Me (David Bowie - Young Americans, 1975) 8. One Bird In The Sky (RF - Inferno, 2019) 9. Spirit Of A Vampyre (GB - Tallulah, 1987) 10. Life Has Turned A Page (RF - Inferno, 2019) 11. People Say (GB - 7” 1979) 12. You Tell Me (GB - Tallulah, 1987) 13. No Surrender (Bruce Springsteen - Born In The U.S.A., 1984) |

Excellent Bowie cover, some rousing Bavaria and all the inter-song chat in German too |

I like the Forsterisation of the Bowie song, the original is so swamped in soulfulness you can hardly sense its bones. And the German song is great fun. He sounds a bit on the hoarse side, but it's a nice choice of material. I can't work out who the new song is about, unless it's not a well-known figure. |

Love that Sparifankal cover, that has to be released as a b-side or similar! |

I finally got to this, thankfully before it was too late. Louis must be the singer on the Sparifankal song, unless there's another Forster son? Love the cicada backing. In "The Length and Breadth of a Life" is the line "she lived in Glasgow, she lived in Brno"? "Fortress" comes into its own here. It's nice to hear "Spirit of a Vampyre." Thanks for posting this link! |

The link for the Bavarian radio station Bayern 2021 braodcast is no longer working: "the content you are looking for is not available or is no longer available" and the dropbox link tells me "This item was deleted". Anyone know where I can find a link/copy? Merci amigos. |

I got that downloaded Andrew - many thanks! Bit of a change from tapes and CDr's in the old days. It a worthy addition to any GB's / RF collection. Merci Monsieur Kerr. |
