Very little about the music, but here it is. https://www.smh.com.au/culture/music/rom ance-is-born-as-two-of-australia-s-pop-t alents-take-to-the-stage-20220226-p59zzm .html

I wasn't there. Covid's still got me afraid of crowds.

You're not alone there, Pádraig. The other night out with the mutt we passed the local bar with about 60 young people crammed out front, drinking, laughing, chatting, something I hadn't seen for ages. First thought, well, good for them, business is up, second thought - stand back, fools, keep your distance, where are your masks, it's not over yet!! And dashed like a thief down a dark alleyway with the startled dog struggling to keep up. Gingerly planning a trip to Rome, where at least the CD place I usually visit is still open - the pope was photographed shopping there recently, probably heard Soft Cell had a new one out.

Thanks for that Pádraig. It's nice to read the accolade for PMW. I really like the thought of Robert and Peter doing a cover of "The Prisoner." Two great Brisbane songwriters cover a song by yet another.

I know what you both mean about crowd phobia. I'm more or less ok with being around people in outdoor settings, though maybe still on the edge rather than right in the middle of it. When tickets went on sale for a pair of Fontaines D.C. concerts here in LA in May I hemmed and hawed and let it go. Both shows are sold out now and I'm not even sure how much I regret my inaction.

The Apartments start a European tour next week, with Bordeaux on Tuesday evening. Still "pass vaccinal" needed but the mask is not obligatory since last week.

Last time I looked there weren't very many tickets sold for Tuesday :-(

Last gig I went to turned to out be a sour affair. It was in November and was Feu! Chatterton, and there was an drunk guy that pushed his way through the crowd and bellowed all the words in my partner's right ear. And threw his considerable weight around, at one point stepping on her foot. She gave him a mouthful and I then added some in English which calmed him down but the atomsphere wasn't the same after. Shame.

I plucking hate people singing along next to me at a gig, in particular if it's low key i.e. not Motorhead or the Stooges (in which case it's ok).

My standard response is to yell at them with: "I didn't pay in to (choose appropriate expletive here) listen to you. It works most of the time.

Andrew, could it be there is an Apartments/anti-vaxxer crossover in France? Damn shame if that's the case. The pandemic has shown us just how many nut jobs there are out there, and it's a lot more than I thought.
