https://easyaction.co.uk/product/steve-k ilbey-grant-mclennan-jack-frost-triple-v inyl-set Uncut says it will also be on CD. It also quotes Robert saying: “an album is written”. Written, but not yet recorded, I guess. |

I've never really paid much attention to the JF project: how successful was it and how much good stuff is there to latch on to? |

As a fan of both Grant and Kilbey I bought the 1991 album Jack Frost. As far as I can remember I listened to it once or twice and I can't say I was overwhelmed. I think I then gave the CD away. If I haven't, I'll dig it out and give it another go. |

The first Jack Frost album is actually pretty good in parts. I don’t much like the second one nor the Far Out Corporation album. The first Jack Frost album apparently sold better than the second. They all get similar ratings on Discogs and all seem to be missing from streaming services. |

Looks like I'll have to give it another go. My tastes definitely change over time - I didn't like the Smiths when I first heard them, for example... |

Neither did I, Simon... the first album sounded muddy and drab and even on Peel all I seemed to hear was one long dismal whine. Then one late night in an Edinburgh pub William It was really nothing came on full blast, I paid attention to the words, I wanted to dance, I felt pop music had, out of nowhere, moved into a world I finally understood. What a great sensation that was. |

It’s now available to order. Release date 21st February. Cheaper to buy in the UK from record shops than the label. |

Released yesterday. The remastered studio albums are on streaming sites. One of them seems to be missing two bonus tracks. No sign of the live album on streaming sites. |

I bought the Jack Frost albums during my early years on this board and their tracks were loaded up onto my big 160gig iPod once I acquired it in about 2012 or so. In those ancient days that 160 gigabyte capacity seemed endless. It could span my musical universe from Johnny Kidd & the Pirates, Mina and Helen Shapiro all the way to the latest Robert Forster, Francoiz Breut and the last of Alain Bashung. While I've never loved the Smiths like so many other people I eventually added maybe about 18 of their songs. Over the intervening years I've acquired so much additional music that of course I had to start pruning nonessential things from the older music on the iPod to make room for newer music. Looking at its current library I see that the Jack Frost tracks are no longer found on its list of over 22,000 songs. I do not remember removing them so it must have been a while ago. Sadly, I've also yanked most of the acoustic Go-Betweens demos. I will always want access to them at home but they'll never work in the car or any other place I want my own personal cosmic radio station which is how the iPod works for me. And on my most recent session of pruning less than a week ago I decided it was time to remove all of the Smiths tracks. I still have my Jack Frost CDs and don't plan to get rid of them. I agree with Burgers about Far Out Corporation. Grant was always a bit more prolific than he should have been. |

Has anyone heard the live disc in the Jack Frost set? I’m wondering what the sound is like on the live tracks. I’m sure the ones recorded for radio are fine, but what about the others? |

Pádraig Someone on FB said that they were dreadful "The extra tracks on the cd are not worth having. Terrible quality live recordings. Someone must have been stoned out of his head to think they were worthy of including!" "...only for a completist as its terrible quality" |
