Domenico Modugno - Lu grillu e la luna

A little gem that turned up on Tv the other day with a tune that's been haunting me ever since. Lovely flute business on the fade. With Volare, the only Italian to ever have a record at the top of the American charts for 13 weeks.

Dog is Life/Jerusalem

The iPod pitched this up a couple weeks ago and then again this morning. I get annoyed when the contraption does that rather than pull something I haven't heard in years but it's ok with "Jerusalem." I marvel at the muscularity of the Fall as a band. It's amazing to remember how non-fans assumed they were undisciplined and random. I wonder if "Jerusalem" is one of the songs that got people wondering whether MES votes Tory. "It was the government's fault."

Grant McLennan - I'll Call You Wild. Live on Danish radio. This version is probably the closest thing Grant ever got to metal.

'misty' from kate bush's new album.

50 words for snow is my first kate bush album i ever bought. when i was i teenager and a pink floyd fan it could have been a love affair, but it really wasn't. then she doesn't fit in my world of music. now she sounds artificial and on some tracks she reminds me on talk talk. i like it.

this a real fall classic, isn't it?

Jeff, True Blue by Tina Brooks is one of those overlooked Blue Note classic albums that the casual jazz fan is missing out on. I've got Minor Move as well and it's quiet good but not up to True Blue. One of these days I'll get around to ordering Back To The Tracks and Waiting Game.

Michael, it's a mystery why that Tina Brooks album isn't more well known. I think it's his best album, and easily stands up to any of the Blue Note "classics" of that era.
