The word 'icon' is probably used too much these days - but there really is no other word to descibe Levon Helm - a genuine incon of American music. A mighty oak has fallen today.

Agree Mark & Rob. One of the greats. Played Music From Big Pink and Band album this morning. Levon's voice on King harvest, Weight, Night They drove Old Dixie Down and others just incredible. Sad day.

Put the spurs to her Chuck.

How bad did you ding 'em?

Yeah, I think I got me a stick.

You go ahead and bust it, we'll fix it. Personally, I think you're seein' things.

There was a demon that lived in the air. They said whoever challenged him would die. Their controls would freeze up, their planes would buffet wildly, and they would disintegrate. The demon lived at Mach 1 on the meter, seven hundred and fifty miles an hour, where the air could no longer move out of the way. He lived behind a barrier through which they said no man could ever pass. They called it the sound barrier.

He sure went to a lot of trouble to get on top of a pile of nothin'.

Cause, your sister's become a young woman.

I aint ever gonna see you again.

SS: Yes you will, daddy.

Maybe, but i aint never gonna see my little girl again.

Vaya con Dios, Levon.
