Guten tag! I'm heading over to Europe from NZ in a few weeks, and will be spending a couple of nights in Regensburg at the end of May. I'm aware that this is a place of Forsterian significance, though it wasn't until scanning these boards recently that I discovered that there are abundant lyrical references to Regensburg in Robert's songs (e.g., 121), presumably written around the time he was based in Bavaria. Anyway, Regensburg sounds really interesting, and before I visit, I just thought I'd enquire, because I suspect there may be a few posters here who have a good knowledge of the town, whether anyone had any tips of a 'must do' or 'must see' or 'must eat' or for that matter 'must drink' nature, while I am there. So... any travel tips on Regensburg, would be gratefully received. Danke schoen Ed |

I had a great trip there a few years back - I remember a fun evening in a Kurdish restaurant and a nice slow boat trip down to Valhalla... not so much for the destination, I just like sitting on a slow boat in the sun sipping weissbier. And a great beer garden just across the river. I'd recommend a day trip to Passau if you have time, too. I don't recall any particular sights in Regensburg, just that I had a fine time. If you send me an e-mail, Ed - mine's on my profile - I can send you a bunch of info I collected for the trip - might be a time-saver! |
