Roy Harper - When an old cricketer leaves the crease Cricket has the same fascination for me as baroque harpsichord music or free form Be-bop. But a lovely song nonetheless. |

Torres - Honey I'll try the right thread this time, because I still think this is worth hearing. One commenter mentions a cross between early Fleetwood Mac and the Jesus & Mary Chain, which is of course a little too good to be true. But a fine noise nevertheless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVgNYcJei Og |

Hoping to go on the 14th of next month Padraig, 13th sold out. I'd imagine there will be more Blades shows on the back of this. I read that they played a six week residency in The Baggot Inn, swapping Headline duties with those other underachievers from the Northside U2 back in the day! Summer painter - Bill Callahan |

Del Amitri - Heard Through The Wall stumbled on this old favourite, difficult to believe that when I heard this early James/Aztec Camera I had high hope for them, they of course took a wrong turn almost immediately and that was that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApeI4hCc6 H4 love the intro |

Mirel Wagner from her one and only cd until today No death: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYtvkoqTn Ss She is the only unknown to me on Saturday, 14th december in Köln Stadthalle - the weekender Festival Playlist: (entry ca. 35 Euros!! - Robert Forster with string orchestra - Young Marble Giants - The Pastels - Mirel Wagner The day before sees the Fall and others playing! CD Description (amazon.co.uk) Mirel Wagner, the latest signing to 22-Pistepirkko label Bone Voyage Recordings, is a 23 year old singer/songwriter, born in Ethiopia and raised in Espoo, Finland. Since age 16 she's been writing gloomy Blues and Folk songs, stripped down to the bone, it's all about her airy but rough voice and minimalistic guitar picking. Avoiding theatrical gestures her music has a unique intensity and emotional weight. This self titled debut was released in Finland earlier in the year & received high praise from Finnish media like Rumba, Helsingin Sanomat, including 5/5 reviews from Metal magazines like Inferno, a.m.o. Her music and approach has been vaguely compared to Mazzy Star, Leonard Cohen, Bobby Gentry, Nick Cave etc... |

Thanks for posting this Andreas. It's fascinating. Clearly, being raised in Finland has had its effect because the song sounds very Scandinavian to my ears. Your festival sounds pretty fantastic. I'd love to see Robert with "string orchestra." I wonder if he's being funny and it just means Karin, or if he really has an ensemble. Does 35 Euro get you into both days? If so that's a great deal. |
