A mix I made for a friend at work. He told me this morning that he's been playing it all weekend in the car and that his wife digs it too. Music to my ears.

Chris Mills is a name I haven't come across in years. Must dig out the album (or maybe two) I have.

Lewisdhead,
Have you seen the Big Star movie - Nothing Can Hurt Me? It has some nice footage of Chris Bell from around the time of the first album and some interviews with his siblings. There's a piece where it begins to dawn on them what Chris meant to people when they have a people peering through the gates of the family home and they ask what they're doing there.
I am The Cosmos/You And Your Sister is surely one of the best double A-sides of all time.

Haven't seen it yet. It didn't play anywhere near me, so I am waiting for the European DVD release. I look forward to it.

A lesser spotted Steely Dan mix I made up on iTunes. Here In The Western World is such an awesomely beautiful song.

How are you finding Dean's EP Padraig?
Trouble Will Find Me is right up there with the year's best I think, they are on a serious trajectory since aligator.

Just played it once so Peter, but I liked it a lot. Living Too Close To The Ground is my favourite so far.

Just played Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires Of The City for the first time too. I've had it for ages, but it got lost amongst a lot of other purchases.

And now I'm playing Yo La Tengo's Fade for the first time, almost 11 months after I bought it.

The Parson Red Heads - Orb Weaver. Not as immediate as its predecessor, Yearling, but another fine update of The Byrds nonetheless.

Bad Dreems - Badlands. Six song EP from an Adelaide band who, I'm guessing, may have a couple of Replacements records in their collection.

Padraig, Girl Talk is great! I saw him live a few years ago.

I've been listening to Bill Pritchard's album Three Months, Three Weeks & Two Days for the first time in over 20 years. What a great album. Anyone who likes Grant and Lilac Time would enjoy that album.

Orange Juice - Live at Stirling Uni '81

A freebie cassette with all purchases in December from Edwyn's label (AED Records). I promise that I am not on commission.

I first bought this as a bootleg tape from the Barras market in Glasgow in 1981 or maybe '82. I do remember listening to it a lot at that time as the first LP hadn't come out yet and it was practically the only way to hear some of the songs.

Frankly shambolic in the extreme ! But a certain charm still and Edwyn's asides to the audience are a hoot...what was that lyric again?

"I can remember the halcyon days
We leapt on stage
Though we couldn't play..."
