Burning - The War On Drugs
Yes it sounds like Rod's Young Turks but I don't mind.... taken from my album of the year so far.

Mr Station Master - Roy Harper

(I know I'm having two bites of the cherry today, but it's been an emotional day; we had to have one of our two cats put down).

Do you know Thomas Hardy's poem about his dead cat, Simon? I remember being surprised that such a seemingly crusty old bugger full of cosmic gloom should write such a lovely thing...

The Afghan Whigs - My Curse (demo). I knew Gentlemen was a classic as soon as it came out 21 years ago.

Regarding Future Islands, Robert started his "Top Pop Songs" Double J radio show by saying:
"I'm not going back to the '60s or '70s, I'm starting right now. That's what pop is all about: now," Forster said. "This band called Future Islands did a performance on the David Letterman show that was the best thing I've seen on TV since Joy Division did 'She's Lost Control' – that's how good it is."

Peter / Austin, Better late than never as the old saying goes. I must have missed your posts as I only heard them for the first time on Later With Jools a few nights ago. Ordered all of their albums the following morning.

Part Norman Wisdom, part killer bloke in Silence of the Lambs... he's certainly a fascinating performer, but I don't find the song itself all that interesting.

Stuart, I am surprised I like them as I am not usually a fan of synth bands. I only have the new album ( Singles ) at the moment and I am finding it a bit of a mixed bag. I much prefer the live recording of Seasons ( Waiting For You ) to the one on the album.
