The Irish journalist George Byrne has died, aged 57. He was a huge Go-Betweens fan. He once took Grant McLennan to a Dublin pub to do karaoke after a Go-Betweens gig. The pub is called The Clock (https://www.flickr.com/photos/infomatiqu e/13967410579/), which always made me wonder about the subsequent Go-Betweens song. Part of his review was included in the sleeve notes of one of the Beggars Banquet rereleases in the '90s. I did several radio programs with him over the years and wrote for some of the same publications. RIP, George. |

Very sad news Padraig, he was always entertaining & didn't hold his punches. He seemed to be at every gig I was at for years. He is quoted on one of the BB re-releases remarking on the achievement it was for The Go-Betweens to have a double L in each of their first 6 albums! |

Thank you, Peter. That is wonderful. I used to know Colm pretty well a quarter century ago. |
