Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - On Raglan Road. It's very affecting to listen to a song about Dublin, sung by an American, while in Australia.

It certainly was, Hugh.

Gardener - New Dawning Time. Psychedelic rock from Van Conner (of Screaming Trees) and Aaron Stauffer (of Seaweed). If The Go-Betweens had ever made a psychedelic rock record, this is what it would have sounded like.

The Bevis Frond - He'd Be A Diamond. I just bought the album this comes from (New River Head) from their Bandcamp site after reading the great review it got in Mojo. Originally from 1991 and recorded in Bromley, where I've spent a lot of time over the years.

The Nerves - Hanging On The Telephone. The original has a desperation that Blondie's cover could never replicate.

Chocolate Genius Inc. - Forever Everyone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Uw4p4Zd y9c

Such a lovely harmonica break...

Boy, I'm excited ! Just seen that he (aka Marc Anthony Thompson) is playing a solo gig in Bordeaux next month, in what looks to be a beautiful venue. Entry includes a free glass of wine. And you know that in Bordeaux they just wouldn't dare serve some crap plonk.

Magneto - Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

The Bad Seeds sound like The Necks on some of the tracks on Skeleton Tree. He has produced a brilliant album from the midst of the unthinkable and I admire him all the more for it.

Lovely CD ("The Magical World of the Strands")

Amazing what you can find in your local library in rural France. Merci Magali !

You've never heard it before, Andrew? Such a great album, Michael Head at his very best. I remember my local library in Sweden had some fun surprises too, including my first encounter with the Hoodoo Gurus.

No never Stuart ! A great find.

The Apartments - Swap Places (Acoustic) 2016

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-bUBqVE U0c

Recorded May 2016 with Natasha Penot on vocals, Prophet and tambourine and Antoine Chaperon on guitar.

Apparently one of 2 bonus tracks for an Australian release of the album.

The bonus tracks are available on iTunes and are worth getting. I bought the album in Sydney when it came out, as a pretty expensive import. I'm a bit annoyed that it's now got a belated domestic release with the extra tracks which I had to then buy separately as MP3s. Oh well, still worth it.
