Ed Kuepper - If I Had A Ticket. His most Go-Betweens-esque moment and, at 2.49 long, one of Ed's most concise tracks.

Padraig, "If I Had a Ticket" is a cover of a 60s Aussie tune.

Ed exploited his music-fan knowledge of old music from the Saints forward.

I think of "Sea Air" as a rather Go-Betweenish original of his.

Ah! Thanks, Randy. And thanks for those links. The original is great too. And you're right about Sea Air. I have Rooms Of The Magnificent on tape somewhere. I don't think I ever bought the CD.

Goldfrapp - Annabel

Doomy Nick Cave sort of stuff, suitably played over the credits of the latest episode of excellent French spy series the Bureau. Great parts for Mathieu Kassovitz and the stunning Zineb Triki.

Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

(Pádraig/Randy - always good to see an Ed Kuepper reference. I 'discovered' EK when I lived in Sydeny in 1988, when he released 'Everybody's Got To', still a classic album, featuring the much-admired - by me! - Rebecca Hancock. Happy days indeed. Though Sea Air's not one of personal faves)

Simon, I didn't arrive at the EK party until probably about 2000 or so. Then I snapped up everything. I'd had (and loved) "Prehistoric Sounds" forever but never thought of exploring Ed's work. I agree about "Everybody's Got To." It's a great album and overdue for the remastering process so it can lose that overly shrill sound it has.

Sophia - Bad Man (v2.0). Their new single, and it's fantastic.

Shack - Not Afraid Of Loving You. A b-side better than any a-side by most bands.

Mark Eitzel - The Last Ten Years. I recommend the whole new album "Hey Mr. Ferryman". It is one of the best things I have heard in the last couple of months.

Blackfield - Lately. The song that really piqued my interest when I heard it in Red Eye.

The Bats - Rooftops

The nutritious density of this great opening song from the just-arrived CD provided a much-needed fillip yesterday evening.

It's been going through my head like an earworm.
