Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up (demo). Better than the final version, I think.

I've been listening to Lee Hazlewood today too. Great minds.

Ride - Lannoy Point. First track on their first album in 21 years, and it sounds like the Go-Betweens with synthesisers. Seriously.

Sternbuschweg - Ich erzähl dir was

Now there's a sweet surprise!:

"Hey Stuart,

this is Benjamin from Sternbuschweg. Found you on the web while searching the band. Sending you an unreleased version of „Ich erzähl dir was“ (our first single) , if you’re interested. It exists an earlier release of it, you may look for, but this one is quite rare (and good as well).

Best regards from Berlin,

Benjamin."

Stuart, Versions of the song appear on a CDR ( No Label ) released in 2000 ( Ich Erzahl Dir Was ) and a CDR Promo ( No Label ) released in 2001 neither of which I have ever managed to track down.

That's amazing Stuart! I wonder how he knew you were looking for their material.

I know. And is it so easy to get hold of my e-mail address, too?? Still, in a world of random internet insult, so nice to get a gesture of gratuitous kindness.

My best guess would be this forum.

My friend and I had a young French waitress serving us in London the week before last. I and my friend mentioned we were going to Paris in a couple of days and hadn't been there in quite a while, except I mentioned I'd zoomed through for a single night to see a show last year. She asked me who I went to see and I told her Dominique A. She didn't know who he is. I asked my friend if I'd mispronounced his name but he said my pronunciation was fine. She was a millennial and Dom A is a Gen X'er but still I was a little surprised and saddened by that.

Randy

Dominique A is not exactly a household name in France. But I have friends in the city of Nantes and recently on 2 different occasions they have been sitting on a café terrace and he has cycled by.

The first time they didn't say anything, but the second time one of them shouted his name and got a friendly wave back !

For a lecture near me, there was less than 50 people in the place.. So we could have a drink with the guy.
Like with Robert, you can chat with him at the merchandises place, even after the bigger concerts.

So I found, Andrew. I realized he wasn't huge but I guess I expected people to have at least heard of him, perhaps as an artist popular with snobby indie types. The Trianon show I attended last year was pretty well attended, with between 200 or 300 people. But of course that's in the biggest city of his home market. Oh well, I should be accustomed to being totally off people's wavelength.

Trou, I was too cowardly to stick around and try to talk to him last year. I realize he can probably speak English but I feel total shame about not being able to speak French.
