Steely Dan were one of the first bands I loved when I was a teenager and that adoration never went away. I'm so glad I saw them live. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Ricki Lee Jones wrote a long and idiosyncratic and touching tribute to Becker in Rolling Stone. It's interesting, because unless she knew he was at death's door, which sounds unlikely, she much have written this quite fast. It's all the more impressive because in its own highly individualistic way it's a better summation of Steely Dan than many of the professional obits I've read. And the bit about their argument over producer credits is kinda heartbreaking:
