Randy, that's great. I'd never heard of that song, or Jimmy Powell, before.

Oh, I should have played Spring Rain instead. Oh, well.

Tom Waits - Heigh Ho. No idea what made me think of this song just now, but I'm glad I did. And Amazon's Alexa has it, which saved me digging out the CD.

The Panics - Sundowner (banjo mix). An iTunes-only appendage to their Cruel Guards album, which I've always been aware of, but have only just now bought (that one track, I mean. I've had the brilliant original album since it came out). Wow, I wish I'd bought the banjo mix years ago, it's really great.

Augie March - AWOL

From “Havens Dumb,” one of the most slow burning albums i have personally experienced.

Padraig, Jimmy Powell is from the early generation of British r&b people. From the Midlands (Birmingham). His earliest records predate the Beatles. He did plenty of crap but also some real nuggets. Here’s when he channeled his inner James Brown in about 1966. It’s gutsy and brilliant.

That's a great song, Randy. And I'm glad Havens Dumb has finally grown on you.

M Ward - Let's Dance. I only just discovered this cover of the Bowie song exists a few hours ago and now, thanks to the magic of iTunes, I have it in ones and zeros. And it's brilliant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbxQ9bvd ZgU

And he’s back ! Not that he’s been away long…and it’s wonderful. Much “lighter” feel than much of the “Toute Latitude” album.

The second song from the up and coming release “Fragilité”

Dominique A - Le temps qui passe sans moi

The first one ("La poésie") is here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO-xlins Nws

Beautiful.

Really looking forward to the “stripped back” gig in December.

Thank you for posting this Andrew. My copy now pre-ordered. These two songs are definitely more up my street than the electronicky approach on Toute Latitude. Wish I could go see him in December.

Thanks Andrew. Geneva is a bit of a long haul but, as I am telling everyone this year, hey, I'm 60, it's time to do what I want. We shall see.

Thanks Hugh. Hopefully they will release a CD version. The Spunk website doesn’t clarify that.

Randy, I noticed that when I checked out Bandcamp and the Spunk Records website yesterday. I think all of the band's major releases have been made available on CD so hopefully this one will be as well. Not such good news regarding the new album by Cool Sounds. As far as I can tell, it will only be released on digital download and vinyl unless someone picks it up for a CD release at a later date.
