We didn't do this last year. Mainly, probably, because of what Randy has said a few times, that there are always albums from a particular year you won't discover until years later. But a friend just send me his albums of the year list, so I sent him mine in return. It includes a couple of EPs. The Good, The Bad & The Queen - Merrie Land Dirty Projectors - Lamp Lit Prose Augie March - Bootikins Francis Macdonald & The Scottish Festival Orchestra Soloists - Hamilton Mausoleum Suite Sarah Blasko - Depth Of Field Paul Kelly - Nature Shame - Songs Of Praise Donny McCaslin - Blow. Paul McCartney - Egypt Station Iceage - Beyondless David Byrne - American Utopia Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Sparkle Hard Angelique Kidjo - Remain In Light Underworld And Iggy Pop - Teatime Dub Encounters EP The Breeders - All Nerve Mastersystem - Dance Music Buffalo Tom - Quiet And Peace The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - While We're At It White Denim - Performance The Harvest Ministers - Crazy Cuckold EP |

I'll play. I just sent this to some friends. It was a great year for music, IMO, perhaps evidenced by the fact Padraig and I have no albums in common. Rock on, kids. 1. Parquet Courts: Wide Awaaaaake! 2. Amy Rigby: The Old Guys 3. Superchunk: What a Time to Be Alive 4. Noname: Room 25 5. Rolling Blackouts C.F.: Hope Downs 6. The Ex: 27 Passports 7. Lori McKenna: The Tree 8. Rich Krueger: Life Ain't That Long 9. Pistol Annies: Interstate Gospel 10. Cardi B: Invasion of Privacy Coulda been contenders (sort of in order): No Age: Snares Like a Haircut Mount Eerie: Now Only; Rich Krueger: NOWThen; Wussy: What Heaven Is Like; Willie Nelson: Last Man Standing; Hamell on Trial: The Night Guy at the Apocalypse: Profiles of a Rushing Midnight; Speedy Ortiz: Twerp Verse; Yo La Tengo: There's a Riot Going On; Bettye Lavette: Things Have Changed, etc. etc. |
