Chickpea Darlings -- Hobbled. Actually, if I could I'd post "Your Generation" but it's not on youtube (unless Hugh finds it somehow). I blundered onto Huw Bucknell's music a few years ago when I picked up a copy of Firestation's Spanish Amanda collection entitled "Brave New Girl." That turn of the century collection showcased a string of marvelously solipsistic heartbreak songs following the end of a relationship. In the intervening years, Bucknell's eye for irony and detail has sharpened. Spanish Amanda continues as well. Hugh has previously posted links to songs from "Dim Sum." RIP Clive James. One of the funniest writers I have ever read, his brilliantly composed Sunday TV column used to have me in stitches. Later, he wrote wittily and beautifully of his Australian childhood, and also showed that it was possible to analyse difficult poetry with both humour and lyrical insight.
