Has anyone got any pics they took at Go-Betweens gigs 1980-84? I've recently written a book on five LPs from that special early 80s period for indie music - including the wonderful Before Hollywood. 'Like Magic in the Streets: Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, The Go-Betweens, The Smiths, The Blue Nile and the End of Romance' is due to be published later this year (pandemic madness permitting). More info here: www.likemagicinthestreets.org and on Facebook: @LikeMagicintheStreets For any pics used for publication, there'd be a credit and a copy of the book posted to them. Thanks! |

Interesting project - 5 of my favorite albums. At that time , i suspect only journo's took photos ( even if they were fanzine journo's). Be different now. All 5 albums hold up well - the Orange Juice one possibly my favourite of them - its flaws make it perfect |

Thanks David - think you're right, but thought it was worth a try; I'd much rather include fan pics than the standard and familiar promo shots. Anyone have any pics of themselves with band members from that time, that would also be great... (Totally agree on YCHYLF - ramshackle genius!) |

Good luck with the search and with the book, Tim. Unfortunately, my GBs' pics start in 1986, Glastonbury, with my favourites from 1987 at Warwick University – taken on my Fed4 rangefinder on black and white film. Old school. For anybody who hasn't seen them, some of them are here, with Robert Forster looking as cool as! https://www.flickr.com/photos/23678069@N04/ |

Wonderful pictures, Jean. The last ones on flickr are reminders of an imaginary night in cologne, wher we both met All the best, Andreas. |

Great pics! The coolest band ever! If I get up in to the loft during lockdown I may get some more pics out of storage and get them online. I'm painting doors first, though! Which my wife thinks is more important... |

Hi Tim, May be too late, but just came across some photos from '85/86. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Arna34WaMf26j3xaVVpjDiVCWb0n?e=U7TgtII Apparently you'll need to copy and paste the above url in its entirety... Only problem is that they are not mine and I've no idea where I got them ! Think the ones that aren't named were taken in the States...maybe Hoboken NJ ? The 4 from England maybe came from the Go-Betweens Information newsletter ? |
