There were just a few days between his death and that of Judy Dyble's. She was Fairport Convention's first female vocalist. For me Emitt Rhodes meant Merry-Go-Round, his band when he was a teenager with whom he recorded their modest-sized hit "Live," "Time Will Show Us the Wiser" and this great ersatz Left Banke-ish ballad that also stimulated the radio waves here in California at the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUQ51Kn3 x2U He was all of 17 years old at the time, so forgive him the priggish lyrics. Merry-Go-Round's album enjoyed a lot of play in the Adams household in 1967. |
