I only just found out he died a few days ago. There’s a nice tribute here. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-ar ts/music/story/2020-07-21/emmit-rhodes-p ower-pop-dies-obituary

If you’ve never heard of him, or not heard his music, start with this late classic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwaqg8Yp zEs

There were just a few days between his death and that of Judy Dyble's. She was Fairport Convention's first female vocalist.

On their first album the group covered Rhodes' "Time Will Show The Wiser", with wonderfully fiery guitar from Richard Thompson.

For me Emitt Rhodes meant Merry-Go-Round, his band when he was a teenager with whom he recorded their modest-sized hit "Live," "Time Will Show Us the Wiser" and this great ersatz Left Banke-ish ballad that also stimulated the radio waves here in California at the time:

He was all of 17 years old at the time, so forgive him the priggish lyrics.

Merry-Go-Round's album enjoyed a lot of play in the Adams household in 1967.
