Ed Kuepper - Singles ‘86-‘96, a new double CD compilation. How could I have forgotten what a genius pop song Also Sprach The King Of Euro-disco is?

Restless Leg - Dream Buffet

I waited to receive the physical LP from Red Eye to hear this album. It's a fine follow-up on 2017's excellent "Some Kind of Restless." As always I'll have to see what I think of it after several listens. I am alternately reminded of the Go-Betweens and the Bats. The only possible criticism is that the addition of instrumentation may exceed the capability of the mixing engineer. There's a crystalline directness to the previous album that I miss here when those extra instruments come in.

But who does this remind you of:

Great album, David.

I’m listening to D.D Dumbo’s Utopia Defeated. The album’s mix of Talking Heads-style art rock, Prince-like funk and a touch of Police-type pop should have led to much wider acclaim. I hope Oliver Hugh Perry, who is D.D Dumbo, will get to follow up this 2016 gem someday. I wonder if he is seeing out the pandemic in his hometown of Castlemaine, Victoria. I hope he’s able to create some more music wherever he is.

Despite the US and UK influences, growing up in a rural town in farm country must have had some role in how his songs turned out.

Padraig, I managed to source a copy from a U.K. based Discogs Seller and it has just arrived. Off to give it a listen.

I hope you like it Hugh! I'm glad you trust my recommendation. Big responsibility though!

I'm listening to Oasis live at Glastonbury from 1995, which BBC Radio Six is playing right now. And, somewhat to my surprise, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
