Valle de Muńecas - Tal Vez Sea Mejor Through his own string of recordings with his bands and his collaborations with Flopa (Florencia Lestani) and Ariel Minimal, and in his championing as producer and engineer of a wave of younger talents, Mariano Esaín cut a wide swath in Argentina. A sweeter voice would have taken him further with his excellent memorable songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iMkI3Fo Qgo&list=OLAK5uy_k47sqz6tQwiqeq0KqmkoiAw XYooTfWtq8&index=7 |

For all of you enervated by unimaginable heat right now. One of the word images that always stuck with me was Peter Milton Walsh's description of love in a hot climate: The grass is bleached like skulls We'll sleep on the rooftop tonight And the sheets in the fridge for a while Katherine will come walking in fresh from the bath Katherine will come walking smelling of soap and wine It's something to live for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yivMq2I1 g9Y |

Cheers Randy ! That's one of my favourite Apartments' songs and that's my favourite verse. Very evocative. I drove back to Bordeaux last night and the sun was going down, descending into the smoke from the fire. Red and postively apocalyptic |

Andrew, I'm always torn between "To Live For" and "Breakdown in Vera Cruz" when choosing my favorite Apartments songs. But the image of sleeping on the roof with sheets taken from the fridge has always stayed with me. With my California orientation I struggle to make sense out of fires that are near the Atlantic coast. I am used to ocean proximity promising more moisture and milder temperatures. The heat and fires in Gironde and western parts of Spain and Portugal refute that. |
