Nick Cave - Seven Psalms. So sadly beautiful.

Infectious Grooves - The Plague That Makes Your Booty Move... It's The Infectious Grooves.

Given they are an LA band, I imagine Randy was listening to little else in late 1991.

Busted by Pádraig!! Actually, considering where I was living in 1991 I'm not sure if this would have gotten me hung from a tree or crowned king of the block party.

Randy wrote: " considering where I was living in 1991 ... ." Just for the sake of clarity, I'm still living in 1988. Have yet to move on.

The Last Pale Light in the West EP by Ben Nichols.

The EP was inspired by Cormac McCarthy's novel "Blood Meridian." I am not sure if there are any Cormac McCarthy fans out there, but "Blood Meridian Or The Evening Redness in the West" is one of best American novels of 20th Century and may be the most harrowing one that I have read.

The other songs are named as characters in the novel: The Kid; Davy Brown; Chambers; Tobin; Todavine; and the Judge, which is an instrumental. I believe only a young Nick Cave could have written a song in the first person of Judge Holden. Calling this character evil or the devil is properly an understatement.

Free Time - Jangle Jargon

Not due for release until September, 2022. This will be the third album released by this band who are fronted by Dion Nania ( formerly of the Australian band Panel of Judges.) At the moment it is looking like a digital download / limited edition vinyl only release.

Thanks for the heads up Hugh. I just ordered a copy of the promo CDr of their first album. That's a start, at least.

Randy, Neither of their first two albums received a proper CD release. Underwater Peoples Records released a CDR Promo of their debut album and Bedroom Suck Records released a CDR Promo of their second album. I will be very surprised if 'Jangle Jargon' sees a CD release.

Currently listening to :-

Horrid Red - Nightly Wreaths

Fronted by Bunker Wolf ( real name Karsten Helge Wolfgang Scholl ) and featuring one Edmund Xavier in the lineup. Edmund Xavier seems to be none other than Glenn Donaldson of The Red, Pinks And Purples.

Trampled By Turtles - various

They're not particularly obscure or new but digging around in semi-recent country(ish) music isn't something I do. They hail from Minnesota, play real instruments sans drums and the singer can really write a song.

Jacqueline Taďeb – Ce soir je m’en vais

Magnificent song, though, reading her biog, I have a sneaky feeling I might have posted it already.

Radio FIP, famous for their sometimes deft segues, followed this with Blur’s Beetlebum and then

The Deslondes – Tomorrow morning

Worked very well.
