The Go-Betweens - That Way, live version in glorious lo-fi vision from Bradford in 1983.

This was released on the VHS That Way in 1993, and while available in mainstream music shops, I don't think that it was in any way an official release.

But it's a cracking version of one of my favourite GBs songs.

The Standells - Dirty Water. A classic Boston song, though none of the band had ever been to Boston when their producer wrote the song for them.

Broadcast - Come On Let's Go

I think this was the kind of thing I was looking for when I bought the Berberian Sound Studio album, which turned out to be pretty much not at all this kind of thing and has gone unheard ever since. But this is very lovely.

Sweet Baboo - Walking in the Rain

It's a simple little ditty but it's a nice counter to the usual complaint song.

Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz - The Girl From Ipanema

My favourite version. And hearing the obituaries today I didn't realise she sang with Chet Baker, which I'm going to have to look for.

Astrud Gilberto - Trains and Boats and Planes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2n-x3ho vJE

I've actually got the original Verve record of "I Haven't Got Anything Better to do". It was one of the few records of my dad that I managed to save. Unfortunately the record is absolutely trashed, but I have the lovely cover (Astrud with a single teardrop falling) in a frame.

Andrew, that's lovely.

That's my type of singing - super-subtle and the anti-Mariah Carey!

Cardinal - Radio Birdman. I’d completely forgotten about this until it just now came up on a playlist I’m listening to. A lovely surprise.

Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker. Cropped up as the second track when I asked a smart speaker to play some LC. What a song.

The Chills - I Love My Leather Jacket

(... and I wear it all the time!)

Full report of the Chills gig last night later, but I'm so, so glad I went!

"Rick Astley & The Blossoms - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"

An absolute travesty. Post-modern irony gone completely AWOL ? This Glastonbury has led to a lot of media commenting on the "oneness" of a crowd. But let's not forget the Nuremberg rallies :-)

Cyril Mokaiesh - Le temps de vivre

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rJ1cvzO -48

Hey it's that old "You Can't Hurry Love/This Charming Man" beat again !

Saw Mokaiesh doing his set of Georges Moustaki songs a couple of weeks ago and it was very enjoyable. No idea why he isn't better known in France.
