I’ve been using Amazon Music for a few years now, I think it’s $12.99 a month. Mostly I’m satisfied with it, but I really dislike how whole albums sometimes just disappear. Today, for instance, while making a Go-Betweens playlist I saw that Bright Yellow, Bright Orange is no longer available. All the other studio albums are there, and the first five singles compilation that came with the first box set. The only best of that’s available is Quiet Heart. I also saw that the only Grant McLennan album available is his disc from the Intermission compilation. I’m interested to hear other people’s thoughts and experiences with streaming services. |

I use Qobuz, which was recommended to me when I vastly upgraded my hi-fi a few years ago. I pay £179.99 a year for it. I find it very good, a lot of it is 24-bit FLAC. I know streaming is terrible for most artists so I buy from Bandcamp. When releases aren’t on Bandcamp I’ll buy from Quobuz and occasionally iTunes or Amazon. I also support a few artists through Patreon. I think the patchy coverage of Go-Betweens on streamers is largely down to the labels. Quobuz has more than Amazon but has nothing post-reunion. All the solo stuff is available. The First Five singles and Fountains of Youth I think were released separately digitally by Domino (possibly Beggar’s). That’s why you can find them on streamers. None of that really affects me because I have all of music on a NAS drive and that’s how I listen to the Go-Betweens. |

I use Apple Music because it also comes with the Apple + streaming service. I really like it, even though I still buy a lot of music in physical form. It's super rare not to find an album I'm looking for, even some fairly obscure African stuff. |

I don't stream music preferring instead to purchase digitals downloads from Bandcamp and Qobuz when necessary. As Burgers has pointed out, Qobuz focuses on lossless file downloads / streaming hence why it tends to cost more than some ( most? ) of its competitors. It was apparently introduced to Australia and New Zealand in 2021. |

I'm still fighting the streaming thing. I buy physical where possible and digital when I must. But I mostly bypass digital-only releases. Considering the incredible amount of music available I have ample new things to explore just with the people still releasing in physical form. Eventually my superannuated large capacity iPods will all die off and I'll then start picking Hugh's brain for loosely similar alternative systems. I prefer listening to my own collection in random order like a radio station that actually plays music that suits me. I can select different subsets of my uploaded music library for the device to pull its random selection from, or like I just did on a long drive between San Jose and Los Angeles, simply have it choose randomly from the entire library. I heard all sorts of spectacular songs I hadn't heard in years interspersed with relatively new ones. |

When I was checking out which of Grant’s music was on Qobuz I came across a cover of Easy Come Easy Go by Leah Senior. I bought it on Bandcamp. Well worth $1.20 AUD. I’ll probably listen to her albums on Qobuz and if I like them I’ll buy the vinyl. |
