I love my crime fiction and the theme tune from the 1973 John Altman film version of The Long Goodbye is fantastic. As is the film itself.

Blue Oyster Cult – Then Came the Last Days of May

This came floating through the air of a small Sussex coffee bar, sounding vaguely Al Stewartish, certainly never guessed BOC, those pretty guitar flourishes. Did the two young girls behind the bar see these two oldies come in and immediately start streaming a 70s playlist? Very welcome, anyway.

Bill Frisell – Shenandoah (For Johnny Smith)

Sublime, sumptuous, early Fleetwoodmacish version of this timeless, anonymous tune, with Ry Cooder guesting.
