Oops. Should have started this thread first. Then I'll claim another Song of the Day for Felt:

Randy, as somebody posted on YouTube re Felt:

"This is what happens when you let Lloyd Cole into The House Of Love!"

Yes!

That's hilarious Simon! I never really thought of Lawrence sounding like Lloyd Cole but I see a lot of people making that connection in the youtube comments. I definitely DO get the notion of the song and its arrangement having the classic elegance of the best HOL stuff.

Bright Yellow Gun - live version from this year's Throwing Muses tour.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8u67LoF x3M&list=RDI8u67LoFx3M&start_radio=1

A much better than usual vid from the audience even if the sound could be better. At least I can make out the lyrics.

I think Kristin Hersh is fantastic. Do catch here or the band if you can.

Robert Forster w/ Jherek Bischoff & String Quartet - In Her Diary. Hopefully this and other Robert rarities get mopped up on CD some day.

Ducks ltd.put out one of last year’s best albums, as did Lunar Vacation. Here’s a new joint cover. Not sure who out of LV actually features on this other than Grace Repasky on backing vocals

Beltane Flame - Awen's Call

https://www.awenscall.com/video (though you'll have to click on the video itself)

The guitarist was my closest friend in my teenage years, when he was a huge fan of Queen and Rush...!), so I never thought he'd become an old folkie - and neither did he.

I saw them play a half-hour set and they're genuinely very good.

Oh, and my brother shot the video, set in Welsh Senedd

Simon, I clicked on the first video and kept thinking of Spinal Tap’s Stonehenge and wondering when the dwarfs were coming out. No offence to your friends. I am looking forward to the soon come Tap sequel, though, and hoping it’s not a reputation ruining abomination.

The Beths latest single 'Mother Pray For Me' from their upcoming album Straight Line Was a Lie.

Liz Stokes has always been a great lyricist and I'm loving the way these quieter arrangements highlight that. She's at the top of her game here.

Uncut only give the new Beths album 7/10. Seems unlikely; they’re the world’s best pop band. It’ll have to be really good to be better than Horsegirl’s recent album, though.

Pádraig, so very, very cruel!

But at least it's a change from Queen and Rush, not two of my big loves!

Pádraig, that's fab!

At times it sounds like Jethro Tull, among other things...
