I just found out that Terri Gross is interviewing the Go-Betweens on her "Fresh Air" program on NPR today at 1:00 pm Pacific Time. I think you can stream it live from the KQED website: http://www.kqed.org/radio/daily-schedule.jsp#

If you scroll down, you'll see it on the schedule.

I just listened to it. Great interview--Terri Gross asked some really good questions, prompting Robert to go in-depth about the financial woes that plagued the band in the '80s (and to this day, I suppose). They also described "People Say" as "Bob Dylan meets the Monkees" which I hadn't thought about before, but it makes sense.

Yep, great interview. Interesting that they're still looking for that elusive bit of real fame and that they consider themselves a pop band! With lyrics like "a teenage Rasputin taking the sting from a gin" yeah sure! Also the tour thing - supporting a big band costs too much! Can believe it actually - being a support band is a really tough call. Go listen for yourselves - it's now archived here :

C'mon they are a pop band, one of the very best.
It's only short for popular. If you sell more records than you have band members, it's inevitable.
They are popular here at the very least.
