I'm planing a family half-term holiday in Germany which, just by chance(!) coincides with the
Go-Betweens tour!

So, anyone have any info or tips regarding specific venues, cities or areas in the region which would be especially interesting for a family with two young children?

My wife has never seen the band, but I don't know how we will both be able to see the band, except if any venue has a creche!

Anyone going to any of the European dates?

Mark

Mark, I would reccomend to attend the first show in Geislingen.´The venue is an old mill and the town Geislingen is part of a beautiful area called the Schwäbische Alb. Lots of nature, hills and green around. Geislingen is around 60 kms from Stuttgart.

We decided seeing the band in Birmingham wasn't enough so we're off to Basel at the end of this month.
We've never been there before, is anyone else going or can anyone recommend what to do when we get there??
Sounds like the live performances are going really well, so it should be a good one!

Hi there,

If anyone is interested in meeting up from the UK (especially London) to go to any of the Spanish dates I would love to hear from them. You can't be more obsessive in going to these gigs as me so thats a good start!

Just booked our flight to Valencia - but does anyone know where the Republica is? Can't find it in the Lonely Planet guide and a google search hasn't helped. If any Spanish fans can provide an address I would be very grateful (otherwise I'll have to find a taxi driver whose a music fan!).
Matt, if you e mail me we'll try to meet up

Wow! I finally forced a mate to go to Spain from the UK to see the gigs in Barcelona and Bilbao. I'd be very interested to hear any insider knowledge of the venues from people who might have been before or who live in Spain?

Sorry to add an additional post but I've discovered that its quite hard to find an address for the Venue in Bilbao (apparently Kafe Antzotika has a second venue in a place called Ondorroa). I assume The Go-Bees are on at the main venue in Bilbao?
Im sure someone out there will be in the know :-) Thanks

Just back from the Basel gig. The band were on good form, encouraged by an enthusiastic crowd. The set was the usual mix of old and recent, with one new song, 'Did She Overtake You' which reminded me of some of the early eighties albums.
Also enjoyed the great weather and finding some Go-Betweens posters up around town, although I can't guarantee they were still there the next day!
Paul - nice to meet someone else who uses the forum, hope you had as good a night as we did!

Matt

Granted the Kafe Antzotika doesn't seem to have it's location on it's website (doh !) but
I think this is the address for where it is
San Bixente 2
Bilbao, Biscay 48001
Phone: +344235348

it comes from this link
http://upcoming.org/venue/5810/
which has a direct link to the venue's website as per The GB's live show list.

seems it's a late start/show by UK standards, altho' that might be the time that the first badn actually comes on stage, unlike most UK venues where they announce doors open time. again perhaps any locals can help here.

hope this helps + enjoy the show

Hey, Good skills Neil and Orpheus: Many Thanks.

Re the start time: I suppose in general things start later in Spain than they do in England (in my limited experience) We'll probably aim to get there pretty early just in case and skink a few Estrella or San Miguel, or whatever else they might have down there!

TFC opening, Orpheus ? are there no "Delays" (no pun intended)?

if you're into Fannies there's a set list posted on the second page of this link on their mssageboard - great to see some "oldies" in there. (wow that is one active board).
