A fireside chat or a concert?

Or a concert with lots of tween song banter??

From the Sydney Festival Website:

Hailed by the critics, adored by their peers, The Go-Betweens has been one of the most influential bands of the past 20 years. Just as they seemed to have given up on the fame that had eluded them throughout their career, they released Oceans Apart, one of the great albums of the past year, and accompanied it with a sold-out world tour.

In this unmissable evening, Robert Forster and Grant McLennan sit up and tell it like it is, like it was, and like it might yet be. The duo relive two amazing decades through stories and special renditions of their favourite songs.

You said it right, Michael, but will Robert and Grant include any of their long-lost bandmates to the fray? Bruce Anton, Steve Daly and Tim Mustapha (pre-Lindy Morrison Go-Betweens drummers) should be hunted down urgently! And don't forget the other Go-Betweens (no matter what the line-up) as this should be a reunion with a difference (if they ever get to bury the hatchet)!

Wow sounds like you're proposing a 'Polyphronic Spree' like reunion !
Now wouldn't that be fun.
All Go-Betweens past & present dressed in liturgical robes singing like the aformentioned 'Spree'.
Robert Vickers would be a natural not to mention John Willsteed. How hilarious would that be !!

Got my ticket this morning. Second row, but at the side. Ticketek, where I got it, only have tickets for the ends of the rows downstairs. You have to get tickets directly from the venue if you want to get in the middle. Seeing as I was at the Ticketek office I just decided to buy it anyway.

Should be fascinating. Have they ever done anything like this before? I booked online and got a seat towards the back. Does this mean it is selling very quickly or should I have booked in person? Looking forward to it regardless.

This could be filmed for part of a DVD release.
If not Vh1's Storytellers.

Christ, this sounds fantastic. Pity I live on the other side of the planet. Someone record it please (the audio spoken words would be fine).

John, I reckon it will be similar to the acoustic session on the DVD. I hope not too similar though, I'd like them to take questions from the audience. I've got one I'm itching to ask.

I've been asked to pass on the message that Robert and Grant's performance at the Sydney Festival will be a normal song-based show, in similar fashion to their pre-'Rachel Worth' acoustic tour. This means no spoken word or Q&A sections.

Well, that is bloody disappointing. While I am sure I will enjoy the gig, it is not what was advertised. The Festival of Sydney program says:

“In this unmissable evening, Robert Forster and Grant McLennan sit up and tell it like it is, like it was, and like it might be. The duo relive two amazing decades through stories and special renditions of their favourite songs.”

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed off too that the format has been changed. I would have gone anyway, but now it is not what I paid for.
