Oceans Apart has been included in shortlist for a new Australian music prize worth $25,000. The Go-Betweens are one of eight acts vying for the inaugural Australian Music Prize (AMP) to be announced at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney on March 8. The awards are decided by 66 judges drawn from all sections of the Australian music industry and are modelled on the UK's Mercury Music Prize. The short list was drawn from 221 entrants from across Australia, including independent artists as well as those with major recording contracts You can read more at: http://www.smh.com.au/news/music/musicians-vie-for-some-quality-feedback/2006/02 /06/1139074168211.html I think its fair to say Oceans Apart has received more recognition in Australia than any previous Go-Betweens album. |
