a kind soul from another messageboard I frequent sent me a download of the new flaming lips album. after about 5 listens i still cant tell if its a work of genius or a massive letdown. one things for sure, if anybody thought they might sell out after the "success" of the last 2 albums, forget it. This is not a commercial sounding record, although the first track(and single) the yeahyeahyeah song is insanely catchy and a potential no1 - i kid you not. I can see this being a critical success, but cant see it being the one that fully breaks them into the mainstream - and thank god for that |
